This is our Kyosho Hoppin’ Mad radio control 1/10th scale nitro wheelie car, and it is an absolute hoot to drive. It was built in completely stock form as the kit came from Kyosho. Ball bearings were added to aid in reliability and our standard build tricks were incorporated as well. The wheelie car uses a kyosho pull start .10 motor mounted in the extreme rear of the car and a heavy duty plastic chassis. Checkout the small wheelie bar under the engine. It really works and is much needed.
The body was hand painted by the crew at fastharry.com using Pactra Metalflake Deep Blue paint with a silver undercoat while red, orange and yellow paint was used for the flames.
Kyosho also made an electric version and all the kits had several different names. Hoppin’ Mad, Boogie Box, Pedal Popper, Trail Blaster, all aptly named considering the great wheelie action they all had.
We built this car in 1997 and it was run a few times and shelved. The wheelie car has long been discontinued by Kyosho which we feel is a real shame considering the fun factor. It’s small size also makes it easy to maintain and carry with you to the park unlike the monster trucks. Guess Kyosho was ahead of its time with the wheelie car nitro series. We also own a new in box wheelie car which is extremely rare and to be honest, probably the only one in existence.
I have a old dune buggy i got from a friend. I have looked at all the pictures of vintage 1/8 scale chane drive caged buggies. The vaning is what I got told it was but it isent. The cage verrys slightly from the vaning.

Maybe it is a Burns…We think some of those had cages in the eighties. We would type Vintage Kyosho Buggy into EBAY…and after the search, hit the save button. Then, every time a new vintage buggy gets listed you will get a reminder. We bet you will see your buggy within a few weeks. If you want, send us some pics and we will let the crew members take a look and see if we can ID it for you….Most of us had those cars and have been racing since the eighties.

Being in Germany and not being able to look at the car personally would prohibit us from giving a price. We would check EBAY to see what the current market value is. We can tell you that we sold a Hoppin Mad a while back on EBAY and it sold for 145 dollars…and it was new in box and perfect. Where can one obtain a copy of the manual for the nitro version? I have the Pedal Popper and would like to find a manual before tearing it down.

Hi Clint…sorry for the delay…..We looked all over the net for that manual including the tamiya sites. We might have one for our car and if we can locate it we could scan it for you and send it in a pdf file….but it will probably be a few weeks before we can try to locate it…..
